Saiko Iyashino-Sato Nenba (Healing Village)
Nenba, standing on the shores of Lake Sai with the stunning Mt. Fuji as a backdrop, was once an area lined with thatched roof houses. Nowadays however, that image has all but disappeared. So with the aim of reviving that traditional Japanese scene of a thatched roof village, Fujikawaguchiko-machi has restored 23 thatched roof houses and created Saiko Iyashino-Sato Nenba (Healing Village). The first stage was opened on July 15th, 2006. The village has a variety of facilities for everyone to enjoy. The aim is to have something in each individual building such as traditional craft making activities, museums and galleries, shops selling local products, cafes and restaurants etc.
