Takumi and Noritaka Asakawa were brothers born at the end of the 19th century in Yamanashi Prefecture. Both of them moved to Korea during the beginning of Japan's colonial period in Korea (1910-1945) and are forerunners in promoting Korean Joseon ceramics outside of Korea as well as the study of Korean folk art and culture.

In commemoration of the 120th anniversary of Takumi Asakawa's birth, Yamanashi Prefectural Art Museum is holding an exhibition of the life and achievements of the Asakawa brothers, including around 200 works of Korean Joseon ceramics, sketches and drawings.
