Area:Fuji River Basin/The Southern Alps

At the beginning of the Edo Period, a solid black stone was found at the upstream of Hayakawa River. The stone was appreciated as one of the highest quality rough stones of Suzuri (inkstone), and since then, the history of Amehata Suzuri started. “Amehata Suzuri-no-Sato ‘Kensho-an’” displays the traditional Amehata Shinseki Suzuri, and various valuable and beautiful Suzuri of China and Japan. You can join the workshop to make a Suzuri at the following fees:
Rough stone (one plate): From 1,000 yen
Instruction fee (one person): From 3,000 yen
*Make a reservation at least one week before your visit.
