Area:Isawa/Katsunuma/Nishizawa Gorge

Kandaten-jinja (Shrine) was erected in Jowa 9 (842) by a local government leader Iseo Hujiwara. Since it started worshiping Sugawara-Michizane (a famous scholar and politician in the Heian Period) as a god in the shrine together in Kanko-Gannen (1004), the shrine has been being called Kandaten shrine and has been being worshiped as a guardian of Kaigenji of the clan of this area. Takeda family had two precious treasures from ancient time, one of them is the flag of the Rising Sun and another is an extremely hard armor, Tatenashino-yoroi. Tatenashino-yoroi has been being taken over by the head family of Takeda since the Shinrasanro-Yoshimitsu of Kai-Genji family, and it is preserved in the treasure warehouse and is designated as a National Treasure.
