Biodiversity Center of Japan

The nature found in Japan is blessed with a great diversity of ecosystems and distinctive plants and animals. The Biodiversity Center of Japan was established in the Hokuroku foothills of Mt. Fuji as an organization under the Ministry of the Environment and is tasked with conveying the importance of this invaluable nature and biodiversity of Japan in an easily understood manner.

Closed: May through October: Mondays and the days after national holidays; November through April: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and December 28 through January 4

Yamanashi Institute of Environmental Sciences

This research institute was founded taking the theme of “Coexistence between nature and humans” and aims at realizing Yamanashi Prefecture as the best environment in Japan.
The institute assists in cultivating a region that is sufficiently able to demonstrate the purification function that nature enjoys.
The institute serves as a place for researchers within Yamanashi Prefecture, throughout Japan, and internationally to interact, in its role as a hub of information gathering and dissemination.

Fuji Visitor Center

The Fuji Visitor Center is a facility at which visitors can use large multi-screen monitors as well as computers to have a good time learning about the nature and culture of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding areas.
