Manyo Poetry Festival & Firefly Viewing

 The 18th Manyo Poetry Festival and Firefly Viewing will be held on June 11th and 12th at Manriki Park, Yamanashi City. Manyo-shu, or the Collection of Myriad Leaves, is the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetry, compiled some time after 759 AD during the Nara period. The highlight of the festival is a poetry recitation performance by participants dressed in traditional costumes from the Heian Period. A full line-up of activities including a taiko drum performance, firefy viewing at night and tea ceremony.
