Akeno Sunflower Festival


The Akeno area in Hokuto City has the longest period of daylight in Japan, and is the location for several majestic fields with 600,000 sunflowers. There are also cosmos flowers along the circumference of the sunflower fields, and shops on the premises sell local produce and souvenirs.

A 20-minute drive from JR Nirasaki Station,

Parking fee: ¥500

By public transportation:

Take Mizugaki Line bus (茅ヶ岳・みずがき田園バス) outside of JR Nirasaki Station. After 25 minutes, get off at the Heidi-no-Mura Kurara-kan stop (ハイジの村クララ館) and then walk for 5 minutes.
