Ukai Cormorant Fishing Festival


 Ukai, or cormorant fishing, is a rare traditional form of fishing, in which fishermen walk in rivers and use cormorant birds to catch fish.

At the banks of the Fuefuki River, you can see the traditional Isawa style of cormorant fishing, which has an 800-year history. There will also be food booths and fireworks. Please enjoy this event that combines culture with a lively and relaxing atmosphere.

Date: All Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Aug 19 (Mon) from July 20 (Sat.) and Aug. 19 (Mon.) 

Time: 20:00 ~ 21:00 (the last 10 minutes will be fireworks) 

Location: Along the Fuefuki River that is across from the Fuefuki City Hall
