Area:Mt. Fuji/Fuji Five Lakes

At the beginning of the Showa period, surrounding Yamanakako was popular as a resort town. As the shore of the lake and the trees in the resort town were left as it is, you can see the big zelkova trees here and there. Among the zelkova trees, small flowers of Fuji-cherry tree are blooming. After Fuji-cherry blossoms, double flowering cherry trees bloom, and the blooming season continues until the mid-May in the Yamanakako area which is over 1000 meters above the sea. At the south shore, form Asahigaoka to Yuyake-no-Nagisa (Shore of san-set), there is a park along the lakeside, which is perfect for strolling. Lake Yamanakako is also one of the most renowned habitat of wild birds. This is the south limit of the wintering range of Whooper swan, the bird of the Yamanakako village, and people enjoy nature and bird watching.
