Ao-Kobo pottery studio is located near Hananomiyako-koen in Yamanakako area. It is a studio and gallery of the ceramics artists Yasuhito Sone. Mr. Sone is from Tokyo and graduated from the art and crafts department of Tama art school. Then he had been training himself in Kyoto, Izu, and Kamakura, and then finally opened Ao-kobo studio at Tsukui –gun in Kanagawa prefecture. After that, he had a chance to move to Yamanakako area. The theme of his works is Ao (China Blue). He focuses on the several blue such as sky, planet, and the earth. He produces potteries of celadon, green glaze, white pottery and ash glaze. Pottery experience seminar (class) is held at this studio. Beginners are welcome. Under the guide of Mr. Sone, you can create anything you like from the clay he blended. You shape the clay in that day and later, Mr. Sone will ship the art-work after burning it. If he has a showing of his work, the seminar and class are not organized. Advanced reservations required.
