Mt. Fuji the 8th station Taishi-kan (Mountain Lodge)

Main content starts here.

The Taishi-Kan is located at 3,100m above sea level at the 8th station on the Yoshida trail. The name of Taishi-kan came from Shotoku Taishi (the famous ancient imperial prince). Long time ago, when the prince Taishi visited Mt.Fuji riding on a black horse, he took a rest at the place where the Taishi-kan is situated now. In the lodge, Ita-Maneki(the wood board written the visitor’s faith), Nuno-Maneki (the cloth written the visitor’s faith), and a copper kettle donated by the Mt.Fuji faith Fujiko in the old days, are displayed or used still now.

Each mountain lodge of Mt.Fuji has each style of service and history. Taishi-Kan has a service of lodging and selling commodities. In the premises, the summer time limited first aid station opens, and a doctor from the medical department of Yamanashi University, and volunteer staffs stay there during the season. Preventing from altitude sickness, the policy of abstinence from alcohol is practiced. The stand sells water, sport drink, green tea, cup noodles, chocolate, candies, and so on. On the web, the detail of the preparation for climbing Mt.Fuji, the required mountain items, and coping technique for emergency are explained. Check it up!
